Education and Learning Seminar
17 November 2004 (morning session)
As part of the BBC Charter Review, Lord Burns (the Secretary of State's independent advisor on Charter Review) chaired a number of informed seminars on aspects of the BBC’s activities, including one looking at the BBC's contribution to education and learning.
Our project on the BBC’s provision in this area was designed to take in all aspects of the Corporation’s work that teaches and informs the licence fee payer. This ranges from its ‘targeted’ learning materials for schools, further and adult education to the indirect educational benefits of its programmes and wider activities. The project looks across all the BBC media at TV, radio, online and community projects that seek to deliver in this area. The most salient issues were debated by a range of experts and representatives from Lord Burns’ Independent Panel.
