International Role Seminar

24 November 2004 (afternoon session)

The seminar on the international role of the BBC looked at the full range of the BBC’s international actives. In particular, there was discussion of the BBC’s role in relation to the rest of the world, how successful the BBC is in its coverage of international issues and the future of the BBC World Service.

The seminar comprised of members of Lord Burns Independent Panel and participants and guests drawn from the worlds of academia, the media and industry.

The BBC produced a submission for Charter Review in relation to its International role. The scope of the document was agreed in advance with DCMS, and formed part of the papers for the International seminar which was held by Lord Burns on 24 November.
