Summary reports of responses to the Green Paper consultation

We received around 4,500 responses to the consultation.

On 2 March 2005, we launched our consultation on the proposals set out in the Green Paper, ‘A strong BBC, independent of government’.  The general public and industry insiders were invited to submit their views on some 20 key questions through an online form, letters or emails.

We received around 4,500 responses which were read by the Charter review team and published, except where confidentiality had been requested or to do so would have given rise to legal implications. The responses are available online.

Ubiqus were commissioned to summarise the views given by members of the public during the consultation. This report gives a good idea of the most pressing issues and strongly held views the public have on the BBC. The report is available below:

In addition, we analysed all the responses we received from interested organisations, the industry and other stakeholders and have produced a summary of the main points from these submissions. The report is available below:
