A Summary Report - An Analysis of Responses to the DCMS Consultation (First Phase)

We received over 5,000 responses to the consultation.

On 11 December 2003, we launched our initial consultation on BBC Charter review. This was focused around eight key questions and people were invited to submit their views in letter and e-mail form.

We received well over 5000 responses, from members of the public and the industry, and this website had over 26,000 unique visitors during the consultation. All of the responses received were read by members of the Charter review team and published, except where confidentiality had been requested or to do so would have given rise to legal implications. The responses are available online.

In addition, we commissioned a report summarising all the views given by members of the public during the consultation. This report gives a good idea of the most pressing issues and strongly held views the public have on the BBC. The report is available below.
